Save Money during High Gas Prices
TIPS
Tags: gas, money, cost, rich, save, driving, highway
Experts say that you could improve highway gas mileage by a 1/3 just by slightly tweaking driving tendencies - that is like saving $1 per gallon on a $3 per gallon fill-up. Here are some tips on how to save those dollars.
| | Do not accelerate and brake so quickly - it burns more gas and just adds stress to your life. |
| | Use cruise control - keeping the car at a constant speed saves gas |
| | Drive less frequently - walking and bike riding can be healthy. Avoid the urge to drive when you don't need to |
| | Change/clean air filters on a regular basis |
| | Make sure your tires are fully inflated |
| | Don't carry extra weight in the back of that SUV or truck if you don't need it for the long drive |
| | Take advantage of grocery store chains that offer discounts for gas for goods you would purchase anyway (like milk, cheese, beer, cereal, etc.) |
| | Simply, relax behind the wheel. The biggest key of all. Taking your time saves gas. |
| | Car pool if possible, or use public transportation. It's a great chance to either chat with friends or catch up on reading. |
