Here are the best dating shows on TV:
| | elimiDATE - one contestant chooses between four contestants of the opposite sex by eliminating them one by one in three total rounds |
| | BlindDate - people who do not know each other are paired up and sent off on a blind date. The cameras follow their every move, while commentary in the form of subtitles, animations, and "thought bubbles" is added by the show's producers |
| | Temptation Island - where long-standing heterosexual couples were deliberately separated and made to watch each other's mates interacting romantically on and after dates, making extensive use of video which is the only means by which they could communicate on the island. |
| | The Fifth Wheel - where four people, two of one sex and two of another, are allowed to meet and bond slightly, but then a fifth wheel of one or the other sex, but always a heterosexual, enters and attempts to break up the equilibrium. |
| | Who Wants to Marry A Multi-Millionaire - which actually set up a real marriage, and put women in the situation of vying to marry a millionaire bachelor. The show turned into a major embarrassment for the Fox Network, who aired the series. Soon after the couple married, the husband was found to have a domestic violence record. The woman quickly had the marriage annulled. Charges of materialism or demeaning to the woman have also been levelled. |
| | Joe Millionaire - which did likewise, with the twist that the bachelor was reputed to be a millionaire, but wasn't, although the cash prize offered by surprise at the end eventually made the deceptive scenario a bit less abusive. |
| | The Bachelor - where a single man got a chance to choose from a pool of 25 women, with eliminations over a period of several weeks; and The Bachelorette, which reversed the sex roles from The Bachelor. In the first two seasons of The Bachelorette, the last woman eliminated from the dating pool in the previous season of The Bachelor was given the opportunity to "turn the tables". |
| | Next - one contestant is a male with five female daters and one contestant is female with five male daters, but gay and lesbian themed episodes are not uncommon. The daters are hidden from the contestant on an RV which follows the contestant's Next van. The date begins with the contestant. Then one of the daters steps out of the RV and, as they step out, the screen freezes and some personal things about the dater appear. Then the date starts. At any point during the date, usually when things start to get boring, unpleasant or the dater has an attribute the contestant does not like, the contestant can shout "next" to the dater and the dater becomes eliminated, receiving $1 for every minute they last. |
| | Room Raiders - three single men or women have their rooms inspected, or "raided" by another single man or woman. The raider does not meet or see any of the three singles and chooses to go on a date with one of them based on the contents of their rooms. |
| | Dismissed - 3 players, only one will get the boot. 3 people go on a date. The daters each choose a place to go (total of 2 places) and the person who's running the date dismisses the person he/she doesn't like. There is also the time-out card which when used gives the person who gave the card, 20 minutes alone with the chooser. |
| | Taildaters - the first show that follows you on a dream date while "Backseat Daters" (your friends and family who really know you best) spy on your every move and add instant onscreen commentary from the TAILDATERS stakeout bus. |
| | Age of Love - 30 year-old Australian tennis star Mark Philippoussis looks for love in women in their 20s as well as women in their 40s. |

The only one of these I ever became addicted to was Joe Millionaire. The best part of that is the girl rejected him when she found out he lied. Comment by: buccicone.2
