Tags: Heisman, NCAA, Football, Brohm, Slaton
The college football season is right around the corner and that means it's not too early talk about the Heisman race. Here is a list of the 10 best players who could win the Heisman in 2007
| 1. | Brian Brohm- QB: Louisville- Brohm has the QB pedigree and numbers (3,049 yards and 16 touchdowns last year) to win the award. He has a great receiving core and innovative head coach to put up the same or better numbers this year. |
| 2. | Steve Slaton- RB: West Virginia- Slaton is one of the most exciting players to watch in college football and has the offense to put up spectacular numbers this year. It doesn't hurt that West Virginia will be a favorite to win the BSC all year and receive a large amount of public attention. |
| 3. | Darren McFadden- RB: Arkansas- McFadden was a Heisman runner up last year, but is looking to take home the big prize this year. He probably be the first running back taken in the NFL draft. |
| 4. | John David Booty- QB: USC- As quarterback of the #1 ranked team in the country, Booty will be in the spotlight all year. He passed for than 3,200 yards last year and could put up better stats this year. |
| 5. | Ray Rice- RB: Rutgers- Rice will get the majority of the carries this year for a Rutger's team that was the story of the year in college football last season. Already Rutgers is putting together a media blitz for Rice to win the Heisman. |
| 6. | Colt Brennan- QB: Hawaii- Brennan set the single season record for touchdown passes last year and was the talk of the college football world. Hawaii is known for their pass first offense and will no doubt be an exciting team to watch this year. |
| 7. | Mike Hart- RB: Michigan- Hart will be the workhorse of the Michigan offensive and in a weak Big Ten, should be able to put up big numbers. |
| 8. | Pat White- QB: West Virginia- White is the other dual threat in the highly explosive West Virginia offense. The only thing preventing him from going to the top of the list is the fact that he will have to split votes with teammate Steve Slaton. |
| 9. | Colt McCoy- QB: Texas- McCoy proved himself to be a good quarterback the second half of the season last year and should capitalize on the Texas's great receiving core to have a shot at the Heisman. |
| 10. | Tim Tebow- QB: Florida: The defending champions will have a new starting quarterback that can run and pass the ball well. Under Urban Meyer's innovative offense, Tebow should be able to open up voter's eyes and put up impressive stats. |
