1. JOHN RONALD BROWN: unlicensed United States sex-change operation surgeon.
Convicted of 2nd-degree murder after a patient died while Brown was practicing medicine without a license.
To make the charges stick, the prosecution established that Brown had a history of incompetence and recklessness.
2. GEORGE H. BROWN: American research engineer who developed color television (1908–1987).
Held more than 80 patents and wrote over 100 technical papers.
3. HAROLD P. BROWN: inventor of the electric chair.
Hired by Thomas Edison to develop the chair after he wrote an editorial to the New York Post about a young boy who was killed after touching an exposed telegraph wire using alternating current.
4. DAN BROWN: American author known best for The Da Vinci Code.
Baigent and Leigh, who wrote "Holy Blood, Holy Grail", unsuccessfully sued Brown for staling significant elements from their book.
5. WILLIAM BROWN: Black woman who served in the Royal Navy disguised as a man.
Joined in 1804 & served until 1816, even after her gender was discovered in 1815.
6. BOBBY BROWN: American rhythm and blues singer.
Began his career with the boy band New Edition in 1980 but was later ousted due to behavioral problems.
Embarked on a solo career in 1986 & had a string of Top 10 Billboard hits.
Is the ex-husband of Whitney Houston & star of his own reality show, Being Bobby Brown on Bravo.
7. JAMES BROWN: American soul and funk singer and bandleader (1933–2006).
"The Godfather of Soul" & "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business".
