Tags: alcohol, drunk, beer, party, wine, liquor, heart
A little alcohol never hurt anyone- in moderation of course. In fact, what some people might not want you to know is that alcohol can actually be good for you. Here are the facts on the benefits of alcohol.
| | "Moderate Consumption", considered between 1 and 3 daily drinks, can prevent heart disease and stroke. It affects blood platelets, which reduces the risk of clots. |
| | While excessive consumption can result in alcoholic dementia, a study shows that people who drink between 1 and 3 drinks per day have a 42% lower risk of developing dementia than non-drinkers. Alzheimer's disease is a form of dementia. |
| | Alcohol of any kind halts the growth microorganisms that can cause disease within the human body. |
| | Several American studies show that alcohol can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. |
| | Red wine defends against heart diseases and most cancers because of the antioxidants of the grapes, found in high concentration in wine. |
| | Because of the positive effects of alcohol on blood flow, it can also increase blood flow to your brain. That's right... beer makes you smarter! This is not to say that a kegstand is good for you, but a British study (known as the Whitehall Study) shows that people who drank at least a glass of wine scored higher on short-term memory tests -both verbal and mathematical- than abstainers. |
