These are the films that actually succeed in scaring me. Which is not easy to do!
| | 1. The Mothman Prophecies: Incredibly chilling as it's based on a true story (those are always the worst ones). Prepare to be terrified next time you drive at night! * Don't watch this if you have a 'Grim Reaper' phobia! * | | | 2. Wolf Creek: My only non-supernatural choice, as this world is much more scary. This is what the silly Texas Chainsaw Massacre should have been: sickening, disturbingly realistic and full of unbearable tension. | | | 3. What Lies Beneath: Ford and Pfeiffer, both in the twilight of their careers, are brilliant. In fact, I never really appreciated Ford until I saw this! Revenge from beyond the grave in this edgy thriller - perfect! | | | 4. Stir of Echoes: More jumpy, 'message from the grave' stuff ... excellent! | | | 5. The Others: Brilliant film! A strange family in foggy, postwar Jersey. Great story and great acting by Kidman. A must-see if you haven't already, trust me! | | | 6. White Noise: Not an entirely great movie, but definitely one guaranteed to make you jump out of your skin every mins :-o | | | 10. The Sixth Sense: Not actually scary at all, but in my opinion the only supernatural film that leaves you feeling *less* afraid of ghosts. Watch this one to settle your nerves after watching those listed above! | | | 7. I Know What You Did Last Summer: Now, normally I loathe teen horror flicks, but I was pleasantly surprised by this. A genuine, spooky seat-jumper - no gore/bad comedy in the tradition of that awful 'Scream' genre. | | | 8. Half Light: Another Welcome back to acting, Ms Moore movie - a good story, similar to The Gift, but set in some isolated Scottish Island. | | | 9. The Gift: Blanchett plays a psychic in a small town where a young woman gets murdered. A 'whodunnit', but with a supernatural twist. The final climax is chilling and wonderfully acted by ... the guilty one! |

No way is I Know What You Did Last Summer a scary movie. It's a stupid slasher film. Also, Sixth Sense isn't very scary. I think Signs is more frightening. I agree with What Lies Beneath--good creepy mystery. Comment by: buccicone.2
