Planning your next vacation? Why not enjoy the beautiful surrounding of Alaska. If possible, tour inland and take a cruise. Inland allows you to experience wonderful places and the cruise portion allows for relaxed enjoyable views.

| | Get out in the "back country." Ride horses or 4-wheelers, but go out further than just in a tour bus. |
| | Visit one (or more) of the mushers. We visited Jeff King (4-time Iditarod champ) and Mary Shields (first woman to finish the Iditarod). Very interesting. |
| | Travel on the Alaska railroad. The views are breathtaking. |
| | Hang around and watch the glaciers calve. |
| | Go fishing for salmon. |
| | Take as many pictures as possible. I think Alaska is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. |
| | Visit several of the cities/towns. Sitka, Juneau, Anchorage, etc. Each has a distinctive feel and culture. |
| | Relax and enjoy the biggest frontier. |
| | Some of the best backpacking trips in the country can be done in Alaska. |
| | If you really want to get away from it all, but stay in the U.S., Alaska is about as far away as you can get from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. |
| | Bush pilots offer thrilling rides through the mountains of Gates of the Arctic National Park and can drop you off to hike areas that only see a few visitors every other year. |
| | In summer, in northern Alaska, the sun never sets. |
| | In winter, the northern lights are frequently visible. |
| | Most of the state is still pristine and natural. |
