"The Most Extreme" is a long-running documentary TV series on the American cable television network, Animal Planet. It first aired on July 1, 2002. Each episode focuses on a specific animal feat, such as strength, speed, flirtation, appendages, diet, etc., and examines and ranks 10 animals which portray extreme or unusual examples of that quality. The rankings are not arrived at by a scientifically rigorous process; they serve only to give a broad depiction.
| 1. | Argentine Horned Frog The mouth is 50% of body its length. |
| 2. | Anglerfish) Its mouth makes up 30% of its body. |
| 3. | Blue whale) It has the biggest mouth of any animal. It's only #3, because, like the elephant, everything else on it is big as well. |
| 4. | Hippopotamus) Its jaw can extend 170 degrees. |
| 5. | White Shark) Massive mouth is 16% of its body length. |
| 6. | Crocodile) Its mouth makes up 15% of its body length. |
| 7. | Pelican) Its mouth is three times bigger than its stomach. |
| 8. | Python) The python's jaws can open 150 degrees. |
| 9. | Giant Anteater) Its mouth may not be very wide, but its length definitely makes up for that barrier. |
| 10. | Elephant) 1% of body length (It's still big, but so is everything else) |
