"The Most Extreme" is a long-running documentary TV series on the American cable television network, Animal Planet. It first aired on July 1, 2002. Each episode focuses on a specific animal feat, such as strength, speed, flirtation, appendages, diet, etc., and examines and ranks 10 animals which portray extreme or unusual examples of that quality. The rankings are not arrived at by a scientifically rigorous process; they serve only to give a broad depiction.
| 1. | Mosquito) A pregnant female mosquito can carry more than a hundred diseases and kill 2.7 million people each year. They are very small but dangerous. |
| 2. | Snake) They kill 40,000 people a year, mostly in countries where shoes are rare, and healthcare is poor. |
| 3. | Killer Bee) They have taken 1,500 lives since their release in Brazil. |
| 4. | Crocodile) Two of the 21 species, the Nile and the Saltwater Crocodile, take more than 1,000 lives a year. |
| 5. | Scorpion) A few species (mainly, the fattail scorpion) are deadly, taking 1,000 lives a year. |
| 6. | Elephant) Males kill 300 people a year; a bull elephant in musth is blamed for 80% of them. |
| 7. | Tiger) They kill an average of 80 a people a year and that number is rising every year. |
| 8. | Jellyfish) Jellyfish have taken an average of 55 lives a year. |
| 9. | Hyena) Hyenas have taken an average of 50 lives a year. |
| 10. | White Shark) White sharks kill only 4 people a year. |
