Things Newcomers To Atlanta, GA Need To Know
ODDS & ENDS

Here are a few things I wish I would have know when I moved here 20 years ago.
| | The roads are paved cow paths. Just because they say east or west or north or south doesn't mean that's the direction you are going. | | | If, at any point, you aren't exactly sure where you are on 285, get off, now! By the time you make the circle around the city, all exits will have new names and numbers and you will never find your way. | | | When someone waiting on you in a store says "You're not from around here, are ya?" they know that because they know (literally) everyone that comes in that store. | | | The speed limit is generally just a suggestion. You're on your own when it comes to figuring out when it's not. Not even law enforcement knows that! | | | There is no dirt here. It is all red clay that stains everything, clothes, carpet, sides of buildings, everything. | | | You might as well learn to like squash casserole. | | | Appearances are deceiving. The mobile home on blocks is where the millionaire lives and the half million dollar house is where the pauper lives. |
